City of Lovers: Best Things to Do in Paris
Contents
Paris Attractions
A city that has been the subject of various movies, adorned the dreams of many, and is identified with a fairytale-like romance. A place where things to do will never end even if you stay for days. Museums, cultural centers, gardens and of course Eiffel Tower… Apart from our list, you can also discover new places every time you go to Paris.
Get a Subway Map First
Get yourself a metro map before visiting the list of places to visit in Paris one by one. Paris is a place that can be easily visited by metro. Moreover, some of the metro stations are very beautiful. Bastille, Abbesses, Arts et Metiers and my favorite Concorde station are places worth photographing.
The first thing that comes to mind when talking about places to visit in Paris: Eiffel Tower
The first stop for those going to Paris for the first time will be the Eiffel Tower. Especially if you go towards sunset, you can see the city both during the day and at night. If you don’t want to waste time waiting for a long time during the ticket line, you can buy tickets online. When you go up to the tower, you can buy a glass of champagne and make this moment even more enjoyable. Who wouldn’t want to sip champagne against the magnificent view of Paris? When you are satisfied with the view, instead of waiting for the elevator to get off the tower, go down the stairs. In this way, you can visit all the floors again and look inside the tower from the glass floors.
What Sunay Akın said about the Maiden’s Tower, “The Maiden’s Tower is the worst place to watch Istanbul. Because when you look from there, you cannot see the beauty of the Maiden’s Tower! The same goes for the Eiffel Tower. The tower itself is nice to visit, but the best place to go to appreciate the tower is the Trocadero Garden just below it. You can watch the Eiffel Tower while sipping your wine in the green area around a giant pool full of fountains.
Next Destination: Louvre Museum
Your next stop is the famous Mona Lisa painting. Louvre Museum should be. Louvre is not a museum that can be visited in 1-2 hours, it is necessary to allocate time. It is an overcrowded place as it is one of the few most visited museums in the world. In order to reduce your queue waiting time, you can buy your ticket online, visit it early in the morning, and enter from a different door instead of the glass pyramid side.
You Can’t Go Without Seeing the Gardens!
It is impossible to come to Paris and not visit its gardens. One of the most beautiful gardens to visit is the Jardin des Tuileries. It is very pleasant to sit on the chairs by the pool in this garden and feed the pigeons, while looking at the Concorde Square and the Arc de Triomphe. The locals of Paris prefer Jardin du Luxembourg. Especially on weekends, this garden is full of Parisians who play sports and bring their children for a walk.
Time to Take to the Streets
After you’ve had enough rest in the park, throw yourself on the world’s most famous street, the Champs Elysees. You can find shops of almost every brand you can think of on the street. I think the most enjoyable thing is to visit the stores of luxury cars and look at the prototypes of the models they plan to produce in the future, only a few produced bicycles. There are also many cafes on the street where you can take a breather.
At the end of the Champs Elysees is the famous triumphal arch Arc de Triomphe. You can go to the terrace of the arch. The view from the terrace is quite beautiful, but what makes this place special is the roundabout where the arch is located opens to 12 separate boulevards and the chance to watch the crazy traffic here. 🙂 Remember, you can’t cross this crazy intersection on foot, the traffic doesn’t stop. You have to use the underpass to go to the Arc de Triomphe.
Gothic or Gothic: Notre Dame Church
Another important place that comes to mind when talking about Paris is the famous novel by Victor Hugo. Located on an island in the River Seine, this gothic church is definitely worth a visit. Especially if you come across a Sunday ritual, you will like this place. The church is normally free, you only have to buy a ticket if you want to go up to its towers. After climbing 350 steps and suffering enough, you get a magnificent view of Paris. Scary gargoyles accompany you while you look at the view of Paris. You can also stop by the Shakespeare and Company bookstore near the Notre Dame church. Especially if you watched Before Sunset and fell in love with the movie, you should definitely visit it, because this is the amazing bookstore where Jesse spoke at the opening of the movie.
As I said before, Paris is a place that never ends with visiting. Especially if it is your first visit, you may be surprised what to do. Do not try to travel everywhere, see everything. Immerse yourself in the flow of the city a little. Sit in cafes, stroll the streets, picnic in the parks. Because Paris will call you again and again to see the remaining places. If you are one of those who call Paris again or if you are going to see Paris for the first time, all you have to do is easily buy your flight ticket here!
