Excavations began in 1995 by Prof. Klaus Schmidt with the help of the German Archeological Institute. The temples unearthed at Gobeklitepe consist of 4 forms. They called them A-B-C-D. Religious ceremonies, rites or various rituals are thought to be performed in Gobeklitepe. A common feature stands out in the way these stone age temples were built; In the center of these temples surrounded by T-shaped columns, two T-shaped columns are located opposite each other. These columns, ranging in height from 3 to 6 meters, are thought to be stylized human depictions. The reason for this is the depictions of arms and hands seen on the columns. In addition, there are animal depictions and symbols on the pillars. In addition, there are reliefs of pig, crane, spider and ox on these columns. The temples do not have a roof. The Archeology Museum can be visited to see each of the various stones and sculptures taken from Gobeklitepe.
